Default T56 Stuck in 4th gear? Help

Here is the story im driving down the street in 4th pull up to a stop light and try to get out of gear but it doesnt let me. So I let the clutch out a bit and it lets go. Half a Mile down the road same thing I pull into a gas station and check my clutch fluid level its fine so I keep going. I also get come and its locked in gear good wont let go I didnt force it to bad but it doesnt wana let go. I drained fluid and it looks fine. Pulled the shifter everything looks fine. What can it be?

Thanks for the help.

could be a bent fork or bad syncros, mine did the same thing, i ended up rebuilding it with D&D peformance synchro rebuild kit, billet keys, and a new 3/4 synchronizer assembly. Been over 8 months and i haven't had any problems with tranny yet.

Rebuilding a tranny is VERY hard if you have never done one, having a press and a good set of snap ring pliers are needed. Having the GM Transmission holding tool or a bench with a hole through it is needed.

The actual Removal of the unit is cake compared to the rebuild

That happened to mine when it was new. Got it out of gear and it didn't happen again.

Get a steel shift-fork and replace the junk stamped slider keys with billet steel units.
