clutch install Pain in the A$$
so i started the clutch install thursday, today is saturday and when i started i was just about to replace the slave and stab the motor with the tranny... the tranny guide pins would not line up, the two bottom bolts would thread though.... with the two bottom bolts threaded the guide pins would not line up, im confused about this ?????? after wiggling it for about an hour i gave up as the two guide pins and the rest of the bolts would not line up and the bell housing and tranny still had a gap between the two. can anybody give me any insight to what could be wrong??? tomorrow im going to try to restab the tranny and see what happens. could i have maybe not lined the clutch up perfectly??? (my only explanation) please help me out, i feel like beating the **** out of the car! thanks -Josh
ps. any easy way to bleed the slave after everything is bolted up???

sounds like ur clutch isnt lined up with ur pilot bearing! try lining it up again and go from there. i just put my transmission in and i didnt have those problems but i do know the slave clyinder is not going to make the dial pins line up!

I amazes me sometime the lengths we will go through so we don't have to drop the tranny agian. I'm just happy i'm not the only one that will mess with it for hours instead of the 15 minutes to drop it fix the problem then put it back up and be done.

alright I have the same problem but I have alignment and it will go in no problem but the tranny will go in as far as the spines but it won't go any further why why why, I even went as far as turning over the motor to see if the input shaft was in and the whole thing spun. WTF I'm going to drop it and reinstall

The best alignment tool is a stock input shaft
You think an F-body is hard I'm doing a Vette on a garage floor which is a complete pain in the ***.I thought they sucked enough on a lift.
As for bleeding the slave, don't unless it is 100% necessary.A new slave is bled at the factory. We never bleed a clutch after it's in a car, very hard to get all the air out.

mityvac bleeder works awesome!! We tried to bleed my TA for over a hour...just had to much air in the line, used the mityvac bleeder and we were don in 15min.
Glad you got it all worked out. I had a buddie help me do my clutch, I would have been lost by myslef...

my dad helped me, car was done on jackstands too... would be easier on a lift for sure. i bled my slave, only took three times to get it. so it must have had oil in it from the factory. we will see how it feels once the thing is broken in. pedal engages a bit lower than my stock clutch.

when i put my motor back in like a fool i left the trans in the car.we wiggled and pryed and finally got the bottom bolts in but it was in a bind and there was a big gap at the top.got pissed and went home.came back in the next day and it bolted right up.i will definitely drop the trans next time if there is one.glad to see you got her in.
