Default Close Gear Ratio T56

Any benifits from running a Close ratio T56 compared to a wide ratio??? By looking at the numbers it looks as if the close ratio would require you shift sooner into the next gear sooner then the wide ratio is that correct? I performed a seach and didn't see any topic about this so i thought i would ask before i send my tranny in for a performance rebuild.

Wide Ratio 2.97/2.07/1.43/1.00/.80/.62

Close Ratio 2.66/1.78/1.30/1.00/.74/.50

The close ratio has a higher torque capacity. Also, the close ratio would keep you in your power band better than the wide band tranny.
