DOT 3 and DOT 5 fluid are not compatible...I think you'd have to go with DOT 5.1. Personally, I run a DOT 4 fluid (Ate Super Blue) that is working well for me.

I'd change it if it were my car, but that is pretty common for the hydraulic systems on our cars.

Dont use brake cleaner unless you intend to leave the entire system open for evaporation. Just flush with dot 3/4 brake fluid. You may want to clean out the resevoir and bladder while your at it.

I wouldn't use brake cleaner either...that ****'s pretty caustic.

I am partial to the "turkey baster" method. Suck clutch fluid out as much as possible, re-fill to full, drive around the block, repeat until it looks clear. Takes a while and uses a good bit of fluid, but if you dont want to bleed it, its a pretty good alternative, if not ghetto.

I second the ATE stuff. I've also used Motul 5.1 and RBF600 but that's usually as a result of eftover fluid from flushing the brakes out

I agree dont use brake cleaner!!! Spend 50 bucks and buy a power bleeder it will force all the black crap out and its so easy to do and you are bleeding it at the same time. Killing two birds with one stone!!!! I love mine. fluid gets a little black put the power bleeder on it and crack the bleed port let it flow till its clear takes 5 minutes.

If you have the right adapter, it screws right on to the reservoir...just pump it up, crack the bleeder, and it bleeds itself
