Default reverse lockout question

What happens if you don't connect the pigtail? does it not let me go into reverse? or can I get away with it? I have a 98 and just swapped to m6 and I can't find how to wire it.

Read the sticky on the top of this page I think. I just noticed you have a '98 right?
The '98s are different so the information I posted on pages 11 to 14 won't help you.
Basically you need to add a pin to the VCM connector and run it to one wire of the solenoid, then run the other wire to the pink O2 sensor wire (factory location but connect it where ever you can). I don't know the location to run the pin on a '98 but IIRC someone in that post did know.

Or if you don't wire up the reverse lock out solenoid it will just be hard to move the shifter into reverse, thats all. Not too bad, I drove around for a few days with it like that.

Wire it through the brake switch. You will need to apply the brakes to easily shift to reverse. Not a bad way to go.
