Default Locking **** in place, turn wise

I got a short shifter on my hurst and stock handle. It used to be perfect, when i tightened it all the way, it was tight and aligned perfect. My friend was messing with it and now tight all the way is like 60 degrees off. If i rotate the **** to the correct position, it spins sort of easily and feels sloppy to me. How do i get it so it stays aligned forward.

You can make small plastic shims of varying thicknesses, and use those to shim the **** back to the position you want. I actually need to make some for my MBA ****, then loctite it back on.

What "Element" said. Thin cardbord or paper will work as well.

Just take the **** off. Cut some circles out of the cardboard, paper, or plastic at a slightly smaller diameter than the shaft of the shifter.

Place a few of your "shims" onto the top of the shaft. Spin the **** back on and check it's orientation. Adding or removing shims will change the final position of the ****. It's like using an index washer for a spark plug.
