Default viper internals in GM t56?

Is this a good idea or even possible? There's a few vipers running in the 9's on their stock T56. I'm thinking of taking my GM T56 and getting the Viper internals and input/output shafts and be ready to go. The next step would be to get a Tex or Mcleod clutch that would spline the Viper input shaft and fit the GM flywheel. Will be running about 750 rwhp. Watcha think??

The gears are all the same untill 2005, no difference in strength. The output is bigger. Other then that, they are basically the same, vipers also run gear lube instead of ATF.

In 2003 they went to a 1 piece cluster that will not work with the F-Body housing. We have tried on numerous occasions to make it work without any luck. Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Will the Viper input shaft fit into the GM T-56 without major changes to either the transmission, clutch assembly, or engine? Considering that when I get my manual rebuilt.

You have to machine the pilot bearing on the Viper to fit a GM pilot bearing. A machine shop can do it but be careful they do not nick or damage the pilot bearing on the shaft.

Cutting down a pilot will reder no case depth. Operating with the pilot bearing on a soft journal is bad idea and will create another problem down the road.
That also ignores that the Viper shaft is too long and will require a clutch housing spacer. It is best not to consider a Viper input as it offeres no real gain other than rework cost.
BTW joe You can install the 1 piece cluster gear work in an Fcar if you make a sleeve for the rear bearing bore that closes down the dia to accept the new smaller roller bearing.

We tried that and even sent it to one of our vendors. We had no luck. It required to much welding to make the 1 piece cluster work. Can you PM me more info if you have it on the spacer. I have 2 1 piece clusters here and it would be great to get them to work but so far no luck.

Thanks,
Amber
