T56 5th and reverse troubles (grinds when you let the clutch out)
Question for my friends roadmaster with T56... It was bought off a LS1 tech member and has been doing the following since it was installed. About 400 miles on it now. Out of a Lt1 F body, Spec billet flywheel, Spec 3 clutch, Spec PP, Pro 5.0 shifter.
When you up or down shift into 5th gear from any other gear it wants to pop out of 5th. If you slam it into 5th then let out the clutch 90% of the time it will stay in 5th fine. If you lightly shift into 5th then push hard on the shifter while letting out the clutch you will feel (through the shifter) and hear and audible pop/clank sound sound as it engadges into 5th gear.
Reverse does something similar. If you put it in reverse and start to let the clutch out you'l make it back a foot or 2 then it will pop out of gear. If you slam it into reverse it dosen't stay in it like 5th is doing. If you apply pressure into reverse then let out the clutch you'l make it back a foot or 2 and get that pop/ clank feel and sound and then you can quite applying pressure to the shifter and it will stay in reverse all day long.
