Default Pops out of reverse

My t56 has been popping out of reverse ever since I bought the car. The car does not grind at all when I put it in reverse, but when I engage the clutch it will pop out. The car is still able to be driven it is just difficult to get into reverse without the car popping out of gear. I pulled the transmission out and replaced the syncronizer for reverse and it didn't change a thing. Any clues as to what this could be? Possibly a bent shifter fork? The transmission also whines at low rpm's in first gear (just a little bit). Any input would be great.

An aftermarket shifter with poorly adjusted stops can cause this. If your reverse issues are caused by wear to the reverse clutch teeth, just changing the reverse synchronizer will not fix it.You will need a new reverse driven gear. Also, if it has been jumping out for awhile, I would change the reverse shift fork too(it may be bent)
BTW I have seen this many times. What causes this type of damage is missing shifts and spanking reverse while at a good rate of forward speed( missing 5th). Good thing was that it only clashes and did not actually get reverse.

It didn't look like the teeth on the reverse gear were damaged. But I think I'm going to rebuild my transmission with steel shift forks and all new syncro's. I'm just going to replace my reverse gear also, so hopefully this will fix the problem. If not I don't know what's left to do.

Calhoons right on this one. Smashed my reverse up doing about 95 mph and over muscling the reverse gate from shifting too hard. Had to replace reverse synchro and drive gear.

Will do... I haven't began the project yet... I want to order all my parts first. I need to get on the ball.

It is.

You have to force it pretty hard though, and most people don't shift into 5th with that much force

My reverse lockout is pretty strong also. So I don't know how someone could have hit reverse when shifting for 5th...
