Help!! Reverse Grind :(
When car is running and i let it sit in neutral when i go into reverse it grinds and slams in reverse 1st thru 6th gear are fine i only have this problem with reverse. It only does this 50% of the time and i make sure that the clutch is engaged all the way. What is causing this?
Thanks,
John

Everything inside of your transmission is still spinning, and when you try and hit reverse, she grinds. This is what I do, and is pretty good practice. Since I have a T5, and 5th gear is right above reverse, I go into 5th first (stops the spinning) and then into reverse. Since I've done this, I haven't had a single grind.

the syncronizer is probably pretty chewed up. mine started to do that to where it wouldn't go in unless i went through 5th and 6th a couple times, then up in reverse and let out the clutch a little while pushing on the shifter. then it would make a loud pop, and work fine. then a while down the road i would do the same but always have to hold the shifter HARD. then it wouldn't go at all and would shoot out of first if i tried putting it in first from a stop.
thats when i said im tired of this and took it out the next day to get it rebuilt.
