Default input shaft won't go into the Pilot bearing

The pilot bearing fits onto the input shaft when it was out of the car. Now with it in the car it won't fit. The alignment tool slides in and out perfect. We get the tranny up there and splined into the clutch disk but we are missing the last inch of travel.

I am at a lost for words and Ideas right now. The tranny slid out easily but for some reason it doesn't want to go back in.

I need some help. I am about ready to drink myself stupid and sell the car all together.

I have 6 4" long bolts with the heads cut off so that will align the tranny to go into the bellhousing.

That last inch is where your throwout bearing/slave is butted up against the pp forks. You shouldn't have cut the heads off the bolts b/c you need to tighten them to get that last inch.

Go back and buy longer bolts and start tightening down. You input shaft is already in the pilot bearing.

Did you put in a new clutch or bell housing? Some of the aftermarket pressure plates and bell housing are tighter and you have to draw the trans in the last inch or so.

I put in a new Textralia OZ700 clutch kit. I have a new upgraded slave cylinder. I have the hydraulic lines disconnected from the slave cylinder so we can compress the slave.

You still will have to draw the trans in. You are hitting the forks or fingers on the pressure plate. I had to do the same thing with my Spec 4 clutch.

My Slave didn't touch my LS6 diaphram fingers when the tranny was an inch away(at least not that I can remembers, maybe I opened the bleeder). Could this mean my clutch disengagement problems could be related to tolerances of the slave?

I just had a lot of problems getting it ligned up perfeclty straight.

Make sure you twist the tranny a little bit to ensure that you got the main shaft aligned with the flywheel. You should be able to get it close enough that you can get the bolts started.

Its in and all I have to do now is just bleed the clutch. Last time I bled the clutch it took a couple hours to do. I have been drinking since 8:30pm and I gave up on the car.

Textralia OZ700. Spent 4 hours bleading the clutch today and the car finally runs. I am glad the thing is back on the road. That was a week long process that had something go wrong everyday that I worked on it. Bolts that didn't want to come out, Input shaft didn't want to go in, crossmember bolts wouldn't line up, torque arm wouldn't slide onto the axle, 4 hours of bleading. I drank a lot of beer last night to cure the pain.

After driving it last night and today, clutch is easy to drive. I can't wait to go all out with it. I have heat cycled the clutch 7-8 times.

I am running into the same problem, have als7 clutch and ive done this b4, i realligned the pp with the pilot bearing and ill have to try again tonight, i dont think i had this much prblms last time. I think its a matter of lining up the shaft perfectly, but ill look to see if its hitting the fingers. (if it is you crack the bleeder and pull it in with bolts?)

There is a stock "shim" it has two notches in it that goes behind the slave correct. It was there when i took it out, i wonder if it should go back in....there was a spec 3 in there b4.

That shim isn't stock. It's from SPEC.

I think it depends upon how much they took off your flywheel when you had it resurfaced. It's kinda hit and miss with the shimming, unfortunately. You'll have to try your best guess, but accept that you may be pulling the tranny one more time to be sure.
