96 Blue Maro

Basically, my tranny likes to pop out of 3rd gear. It hasnt done it the past couple of weeks but when it was doing it, it was bad. I am guessing a synchro. Then the clutch is real soft, its not slipping, i am guessing a hyrdaulic issue. My question is how should i go about fixing this? I am leaning towards a complete tranny rebuild, nee clutch and pressure plate, and all new hydralics. The problem is im in college and the money is tight. Is it necessary for me to do all of this stuff to make sure its done right? Kinda looking for adive from peopl who have been here before and what they did.
