LS7 Clutch Break In Complete!!
Howdy! I now have a LS7 clutch with LS2 Flywheel setup with a new slave, T/O, and pilot bearings with the original clutch master cylinder (has 95k miles on it) and it has about 1k miles on the new setup. I must say, I can't be happier with the setup. There is such a big difference I am amazed!
My old setup was the original LS6 with 94k miles on it and boy, it had heat spots all over it and the slave wouldn't allow me to quickly shift into any gear. As far as the clutch engaugin right off the floor at first, mine had no such problem except for the first 30 miles! It engauged halfway between the normal point and the floor for the first few clutch pumps and thats it!
I have gotten on her pretty hard several times and I must say, I can't wait to autocross with it and the DR's are surely going on when i get a chance. As far as revving slower due to being heavier, I have not noticed it at all, and the car actually feels a bit faster like the clutch and clutchpak are meshing more quickly or something. I HIGHLY RECCOMMEND THIS SETUP to anyone who is making 450 or less HP for anything you plan on doing!

I just got an LS6 setup that is going in Wednessday. I am bone stock and staying that way so the extra $$ and weight of the LS7 would be of no benefit. Glad to hear that the change was good for you! How long/how do you break a clutch in? I usually baby the car around anyways. Is there a technical proceedure?

no there is no technical procedure especially with it being an OEM clutch. from what i understand after 100 miles with an OEM one you can technically get on it hard, but i waited til 400 miles were on mine before i did anything crazy. what will hurt the clutch/put stress on it, is getting on the throttle at 40% or more when its brand new moreso than being in the higher rpms, but i still wouldn't go over 2600 to 2800 for a few hundred miles.

id say LS7, depending on how often you drag it and how you drive...seems like spec 3+ at best lasts 30k miles from what i have read. the LS7 should last twice that even with 450 to 500 hp
