Default 5th gear

hey guys,

went to the dragstrip on sunday, and on the way there i could shift into 5th gear, on the way home it will not go in. it just grinds. when the clutch is all the way in and i put the shifter into 5th it feels like it is going in but the clutch is released it grinds and is not in gear. all the gears go in fine but 5th. any suggestions. thanks

My guess would be that you missed a shift at the track, spanked and clashed 5th and now the fork is bent or the pads are worn off. If this is true( bent fork) avoid 6th as you may get the trans stuck in 6th.

You mind as well pay for a whole rebuild if you are going to take it out of the car and pull the case apart... just MHO.
