as the title states, im having a problem with it scratching as it goes into 3rd when i shift fast. i plan on replacing the clutch in a few months, and also rebuilding my tranny within the year, but what do you guys think is causing this?

if it isn't grinding that bad into third ie it stays in gear despite the grind, then I'd wager it's your stock hydraulics. Try to avoid abusing it until you update those.

more than likely hydraulics. I just did a a4 to m6 swap. I had grinding issues in 4th gear. I replaced the master and it was cured.

Agreed, this could easily be related to poorly functioning hydraulics...replace them and let us know if you see a difference. Thanks,

How's the level and condition of the hydraulic fluid? If it looks nasty flush it out. A lot of guys just turkey baster it out, refill, repeat a few times to accomplish this and avoid messing with the bleeder.

By using the Turkey baster method you never fully remove the older broken down fluid from the lines, Master, and Slave. Thus it is not ideal. I would suggest flushing and refilling (using a vaccuum sorce) and going from there. I hope this helps.

You can search this forum for Mighty-Vac bleeding instructions. You have a couple of plases to draw from. Let us know if you have any further questions. Thanks,
