Default shifting issues

hey guys im having a problem with my tranny or clutch...im not sure. When the car is started up, the car wont go into any gears, but when the car is off, it will go into gear. Does anybody know what is going on?

Clutch isn't fully releasing.

When the car is running and you push the clutch in the disengage it, its still dragging against the flywheel. That puts tension on the gears in the transmission, making it hard to shift and/or grind.

Sounds like the slave cylinder might be going bad.

Check the level and condition of your clutch fluid.
