basically when i go to shift into 3rd it grinds and vibrates..unless i push really hard then it makes a loud "knock" sound but then stays in gear and works perfectly..i went to a mech. shop and they siad its a bad synchro ring..like 400-500$ to fix..after reading up in here tho it seems it could also just be something with the shifter itself..bent fork? etc..any sugestions??

Either fork or syncro the trans has to torn down to fix. If you end up getting it done get the hardend shift fork.
