so ive got an 02 TA M6 moser 12bolt with gears n such. The car has full bolt ons but when I push it and shift at high rpms I get this load abrupt thump right under my right elbow. I suspect its defanatly drivetrain related. I was thinking it might be the clutch thats slipping but cant fiqure it out?!?!?

Torque arm maybe? Something under the car might be lose and when you shift it's kicking it up and hitting the bottom of your car. I would say get under it tomorrow and check everything. Check your mounts and all.

The factory tranny mount is so soft that on hard shifting it lets the torque arm push the back of the tranny into the bottom of the car. If you will notice the factory tranny has a rubber snubber on top on it to keep the tranny for contacting the body and create metal to metal contact. The only solution to the problem is to get the torque arm mount off of the rear of the tranny. BMR makes a nice crossmember that intergrates the torque arm mount.

You are not going to hurt anything with it hitting, that is why the engineers put the rubber snubber on top of the tranny. The stiffer tranny mount will help. The problem with the stiffer tranny mount is the load will now be on the tranny case, not the mount. I don't know of any t56 cases being broken because of the torque arm. I have see quite a few A4 with broken cases. The A4 cases is very thin. I am sure that the wasted motion is NOT good for quick times at the track. The energy used to push the tranny into the car body is better used to plant the rear tires. Also as a side not the torque arm being connected to the rear means that the differental is roatating to a very postiive pinion angle which is not good for the u-joints.

i definitely say tranny mount, and buy a spohn tunnel mount adjutable torque arm, will fix all problems...you'll feel a clunk, but fromthen on it will be your drivelie straightening itself out on acceleration, then holding
