Default Just installed a spec stage 3 and i have a ???

I just got my car back 2 days ago from getting a new spec stage 3 clutch, fidanza aluminum flywheel, and a new tranny.. along with an 01+ slave cylinder. when i picked up the car, the guy told me i would need to replace the master cylinder soon too because it isnt strong enough to handle the clutch... the clutch literally catches like an 1/8 of an inch off the floor, and some times when the pedal is down all the way it isnt even fully disengaged. i think it might need to be bled... would doing the drill mod help.. or do i really need a new master cylinder?
p.s. when i double clutch it helps.

i had the same problem after my stage 2+ install. this was even after i bled the living hell out of the clutch. i would recommend throwing an adjustable master cylinder in there. that was the only thing that worked for me. one of our sponsors sell them here: http://www.ws6project.com/user_stor/...7299ec74a2d463

I just installed a Spec 3 and my release was about an inch from the floor. I made my stock master cylinder adjustable and it feels awesome now.

an adjustable master isn't a real fix. It just masks the real problem of the slave being to far away or too close to the throwout bearing. A shim would help you. If the pedal is high the adjustable master may move the pedal point but the fact is the slave will still be constantly riding the throwout bearing eventually causeing slippage

the shop told me that it was the fact that it is the 98-00 master, and i should have upgraded to the 01+. i know that the slave cylinder is shimmed, because the clutch came with the shim.

always upgrade master/slave/pilot bearing when doing a clutch change. You especially need it because you don't have the upgraded 01+ hydraulics

clutch engagement will change a bit once the unit is broken in properly as well.

but yeah...sounds like something shim related...

With the shim, the engagement point would be higher up on the pedal, correct? W/o the shim, it would take a longer distance for the T/O bearing to reach the PP and in turn make the engagement point be lower?

You don't really need a new master. It should atleast be bled during the install.Something isn't right, more than likely an install error of some sort.

the pedal feels lighter than my centerforce.. and i figured it would be heavier.. i am going to try and bleed it myself, because i dont think they did a very good job.

there ya go - the stage 3 cltuch should be heavier than the centerforce. i think you need to have it bled thoroughly. i've installed a couple stage 3's and they have worked perfectly... the bleeding process takes a little time though. lol.

you can use a shim behind the slave cylinder if the engagement point is still too low for your liking - SpeedInc makes their own now.
