Default T56 locked me out of all gears???

I was driving home from work yesterday when I was approaching the stop light I tried to down shift to 3rd and could not engage, so I tried 2nd and 4th still nothing. I started to get worried because trafic had completly stoped and I did not know if would be able to get my car into gear. I stopped at the light, it turned green and I was able to push the shifter into first. The shifting seemed stiff (not smooth) for the rest of the ride home. Also one of the times I tried to down shift into 3rd gear I heard a grind for a second that sounded like I did not use the clutch to shift. I am going to have my trans flushed this morning. Anyone else ever have this problem.

Sounds like your clutch is not disengaging all the way, did you make some WOT runs before that happened or just normal driving?

Normal driving but in stop and go rush hour trafic. If the clutch is going bad any suggestions on which one I should replace it with. I was thinking about the ls6 package from SLP.

sounds like a hydraulic problem to me. does the pedal feel the same? how many miles on the car?

i just a did a new clutch and all new hydraulics. these systems work great if maintained properly. if you're going to do a clutch, go with something better than an LS6 clutch. i personally picked the Textralia because i know 3 people around here that have them and i have yet to hear anything bad about them.

Yep, might be time for a new slave cylinder.

Thanks for the input, Do any of the sponsers sell Textralia clutch's(Yes I know very little about clutch's). Also will a lighter fly wheel add any rwhp? My neighbor took look and sound at my TA and sold his early 90's mustang. Then tells me he has surprise for my TA. As of today an 03 cobra with 10,000 miles, home is now next door. I would love to race it but I have heard that they can be faster? Guess I will find out

Bad news - A lighter flywheel does not add rwhp and you can't beat the Cobra.

That's what happened to me in my '02 when I destroyed one disc in my McLeod twin disk setup. I literally ripped pieces of the friction material off and they got lodged between the clutch and the pressure plate, locking me out of all gears. I coasted down to about 10 MPH and managed to rev match it into 1st without using the clutch pedal. Drove the remaining 5-6 miles home on back roads in first gear.

Fortunately McLeod was cool and replaced it under warranty.

To the above post. The thing is it seems to be driving fine today??? I drove it because in a way I wanted it to give out ( So I would know that this is the problem). I know this sounds stupid but it would give me a legit reason to be late for work (I work for my dads company, real bitch, he has esp or something and does not like for me take vaction time )

More bad news.....YOUR'E WRONG.....a lighter flywheel will add RWHP, although not much, less rotating weight=more HP to the wheels, and with his mods he would be damn close to a stock 03-04 Cobra

I highly recommend www.ws6store.com ...they are very friendly and helpful, great service and they can beat anyones price.

You'll need some boltons to beat the cobra, but the race will be closer than he thinks if youre a good driver and he's so-so. A friend of mine has an '03 that did over 450rwhp and from a stop I was still ahead into 4th gear. It has a lot to do with the driver and maybe a little luck.

This happened about three days after I had installed a new GM master cylinder. Turns out, the new master had just enough push to extend the slave beyond it's seals. After I'd pump it back up... it'd be fine for a while til it blew past the seals again. Thus I added a spacer... and all problems (including the stuck pedal after a hard run) were eliminated.

well I am pretty sure the clutch is about shot. I drove it this morning to get some food from the store and I could hear the clutch grinding (not the same sound a grinding gears, more like a metal wheel rolling) it was pretty loud. The clutch I also think may be slipping. So what seems to be popular choice for replacement? 98ssleeper I will try the WS6store as well. Thanks

Why can't you just buy a Textralia clutch? It seems they just sell complete kits with a flywheel.

I think SDPC has a Clutch/PP/Flywheel LS7 kit for $399. I've had the LS7 for a while and it's awesome. Light pedal, and great grab for less than 500hp.

same thing happened to me for a while till it all went out finally its the slave cylinder sometimes my it seemed like my clutch wouldn't engage pop the tranny replaced the clutch since I was there and saw my slave was leaking fluid so I replaced it to. good way to tell check your slave cylinder reservoir make sure and take out the rubber gromit in it and see if the fluid is low then you can tell if your slave is going bad

If it turns out you need a new clutch go with the LS7 Clutch Kit from www.byunspeed.com

Is the flywheel that comes with the ls7 kit lighter than my stock? I am going to do some research but it looks like a few of already have installed this kit.

No... due to a different PP mounting style, I believe it's actually heavier. If you wsnt a lighter fly, you'll have to go aftermarket.
