Default How to tell when clutch is failing?

Alright, I've been driving manuals for many years now and only really replaced one clutch. I've just been through vehicles too fast. So I don't know if I know what a failing clutch feels like.

Right now I have a '00 WS6 6spd with 43k miles. It's had an easy life, no track time, no street racing, just WOT every now and again. At 42k I put in a MagicStick 4 cam and it was great. Now I just put on LS6 heads, 90/90, injectors, pulley, etc. Haven't dyno'd it yet but I estimate 450 rwhp. It has a mail order tune for all of the mods I have on it and it feels slower than when I just had the cam. I'm hoping the tune is just pig rich, but I'm also afraid the stock clutch is politely saying goodbye.

How can I tell?

True, but that's the extreme, when the clutch is done. I'm trying to figure out if my clutch is on it's way out. I would rather not wait until it's completely ruined and I have to get towed.

What is considered the limit for rwhp on the stock clutch?

Thanks

From what i no the only way to tell if a clutch is going out is if it starts slipping i no the one in my chevelle was going out because of the throwout bearing started making that squealing noise after owning the car for 2 days it also chattered no idea why but it did so pulled the tranny and the mother ****** was smoked horrible someone went on a hell run before they sold me the car so replaced it all stopped but i honestly doubt that would happen on these cars

the only way to find out if its failing is when it starts to slip, if it still holds, its still ok,

when its start to slip you have enough time before it stops, i drove mine for couple of weeks we after it startet to slip, and both drag raced it and went to drift day

The pedal will begin to release at a higher point, and then it will eventually slip.

That is subjective and depends on how the driver drives. My stocker held up to 465HP/540Ft-Lbs just fine.

Drive modestly to a steep hill near you.

Manage your speed to start up the hill in fifth gear at 1200 rpm.

Go to wide open throttle.

If the rpm climb is proportionate to speed, the clutch is not slipping.

If the rpm climb is rapid and disproportionate to speed, the clutch is slipping.

At the top of the hill pull over to a safe place and pop the hood.

Sniff the driver's side firewall for presence of "eau de clutch." If you smell it, the clutch is likely slipping and needs further diagnostic steps. In that case, PM wrencher.
