whats the best fluid for a dd 2001 ss 6 speed....lmk

You miight want to try the Manuel trans section. To answer your question, it any ATF. From what I read you should stay away from the synthetics.

Amsoil ATF synthetic here, runs great with no problems!

General opinion is if your running a pre 01 to run regular old atf. 01+ like your car sythetics or ok but some still don't believe that it is. In 01 they changed the sycro from paper to carbon(I believe) basically synthetics will eat away at the pre 01 paper ones and don't on the 01+ or so many say.

I am running Royal purple syncromax as well with no problems.

i've never heard of paper synchros. can you explain?

It's actually the blocker rings and they are made of a cellulose composite material. This is why everyone calls them "paper". The theory on synthetics killing them is that they tend to "swell" (and also possibly deteriorate if the oil blend is caustic enough) when exposed to synthetics, to the point of not being able to engage the next gear. Whether this is due to some synthetics having a high % ester base stock content (Red Line D4 being one of the higher ones for this), which attracts water that in turn causes the "swelling", or if it is something else, is still out to jury.
