Default just installed LS7 clutch!!!

I see alot of people asking about LS7 clutchs and figured I would post a thumbs up for it. Feels like stock, but grabs like there's no tomorrow. The LS2 flywheel unfortunately is much heavier than the stock LS1 but think it pays off. Kinda worried about the rear end now, it grabs that much. I got yelled at the first time I got on it by my friend when he told me does it feel any different. As soon as he said it, I romped on it and snapped his head back into the headrest. I'm very satisfied with it

Yup the only draw back of the clutch is that it weighs close to 65 lbs. But other than that I don't have any complaints with mine either

My stock 99 LS1 clutch/pp/flywheel weighs 49.05lbs. I forgot to weigh the LS7.

You can always get an aluminum flywheel, at $400+ a pop.

I like mine too. The only time I notice the heavier assembly is when my A/C is on. Takes longer for the rpm's to wind down between gears. Other than that I love it. Grabs great on the street and pedal efforts are low. I DD it every day and definitely have fun with it!

What kind of HP loss will the extra rotating mass cause?

Just curious, where did you guys purchase your kit from and for about how much.?. Which master and slave and any pedal issues? Along with the LS7 clutch/pp, I went with the Fidanza LS2/7 aluminum flywheel (13 lbs.). The Fidanza piece wasn't that bad - $379 from SpeedInc. {FYI, I weighed the GM LS2/7 (gen IV) flywheel at 25 lbs - LS7 clutch at 7 lbs. - LS7 pp at 23 lbs, as compared to the stock LS1 flywheel at 23 lbs - LS1 clutch at 5 lbs - and LS1 pp at 20 lbs}
I also went with a slave .180" spacer and Mcleod adjustable master and no pedal issues. So far, I love the set up... still letting some break-in miles accumulate, but I noticed upon engagement during high rpm shifts that the LS7 slipped slightly more than my stock LS1 set-up. Is this the case with anyone else? Its probably too soon to say until I am really ready to get agressive with it. The pedal is slightly firmer than the stock LS1, though. All in all, it seems to be a nice upgrade.

The only lightweight LS2 flywheel I know of is the Fidanza, and I think I paid ~$360 for mine. I think it's 13.5lbs.

If I didn't misunderstand the rep at Spec, they offer an aluminum piece which retails for $429. It's around 13 lbs. as well. That's just another option from Fidanza... if you can find it cheaper than the Fidanza price range at a Spec dealer, it may be worth a shot.

Why was the spacer needed?

I was an early adopter and also used a slave shim. It would not go into gear with the engine running and I didn't feel like risking tranny damage and I wasn't going to assume it would fix itself. I also have intermittent high RPM problems shifting, but I'm putting the McLeod adjustable back in and will see if that helps.
