Default What Clutch for 415 RWHP

I did the search, got mixed reviews.

So what do you all recommend for my Trans Am with 415 RWHP???

I want something that has a firmer feel as far as the pedal goes, but has a lot of holding power.

So tell me why you chose the clutch for your car.

If you vote other please specify, and note why....

Thanks

Jonas

-UPDATE-

ok, I have run the Spec 3, C5 Z06 clutch, Ram HD with 300 series race disc and now the Ram Street Twin.

I choose to use another RAM due to the simple fact that the HD lasted for 30,000 miles! Now I was not running a 12bolt so I wasn't at the track doing clutch drops ect...... but It was behind a full bolt on, cam only, nitrous injected full weight f-body on Nitto DR's running 4.30 and 3.90 gears. I ran the car at the track with that setup 72 times.... 50 runs on the gas and 22 on motor. So for me a quaility part got me to go back again. It was time for a new flywheel this go around so I figured why not drop a few hundred more dollars for the street twin. It has light pedal pressure and is silky smooth from a dead stop. Also a 12bolt will be on order soon, so I didn't want to get caught at the track with my pants down LOL.....slipping clutch ect.....

I am pretty sure clutches aren't lifetime warranty...

I have the spec stage three and I am putting 415hp and 405tq to the wheels and this clutch works great. Holds well and is a great clutch. These clutches must be broke in properly however or there can be issues. good luck with you choice

Hey Brandon,

How can you get this from Autozone? is it a good brand LOL....

I would prolly want a steel f/w. Alum on a lauch you will lose power, but a steel holds the energy...

I'm runnin a LS7 kit on mine & have been for over a year now. Never once had an issue & it'll break them loose with a clutch dump @ 40+MPH on my new set-up. No problem gettin into gear @ high RPM either & I'm on 102k mile stock hydrolics.

Hey Brad whats up

You really think that i will be fine with the LS7 clutch?? My application will be able to handle what i am putting to the rear. what about a 4.10 as well? I am really just looking to see if the holding power is better then the LS6 clutch?

Also what new components should i get?

And what comes with the LS7 clutch

Here is what i am thinking:

Clutch, PP, LS2 F/W, pilot bearing, TOB, Slave cylinder, and master cylinder??

Anyhting else

Who sells this clucth that is a sponsor here?

If money isn't issue go w/ a Textrailia. I've heard nothing but good things about them. Also heard they have awesome customer support and service.

There is a big difference, the TEX is not a stock like organic disk like the stock LS7 clutch. It is stronger but doesnt drive as street friendly.

The holding power of the LS7 clutch is way more than the LS6. Keep in mind the LS7 powerplant comes stock with ~460 RWHP and it lasts OK, you are a bit under that amount of power.

Your parts list looks good, you need the LS2 flywheel with the LS7 clutch. You will also want to replace all those other components too.

SPDC sells an entire LS7 clutch kit, hit them up man and ask about it.

thanks brad for the info. so for my set up you recommend LS7 then? But what if i decide to do a H/I package.. i am sure that will net me around the max HP for the LS7????? I jsut do not want the clutch to slip. Right now my motor revs way to fast and the clutch can not catch up.....

yep i think that my parts list is good too

I dont think you will be going over 500 so it should be just fine, especially if you dont go to the track all the time doing clutch dumps.
