Default After 150,000 miles and track visits every weekend my clutch slipped...WTF?

Alright ive been the the track 4 or 5 times since i got my WS6 and ive been running consistent 13.20-13.30's on hot muggy summer days. Well last wednesday i took my girl to the track for the first time and she said she give me a little somethin if i got my car faster than 13.26. (my best run out of 4 was a 13.31, and that was a good run). So me thinking with the wrong head launched the **** out of it and first my wheels spun then they stopped and motor bogged down then it went back to normal. After running a 13.25 (and she kept her end of the deal) i came back to the pits and realized that my clutch did not disengage until it was almost all the way out. And on the way home i did a 50 mph roll with a 12 second LT1 camaro and when i downshifted into second i spun the clutch pretty good. It is my daily driver and the clutch is drivable it just cantbe beatin on. And for an 18 year old kid that SUCKS! I have good and bad about the LS7 clutch. I plan on a Cam and Intake this winter and trust me this car is taken to the track every wednesday. Only mods so far are longtubes, ORY and SLP Catback. I do not believe i need a flywheel i was hoping i could buy everything else and save money? Going through college right now to be an engineer does not help the passion so money is very tight.

After 150,000 miles and track visits every week, you are disappointed that your stock clutch is on its way out? Seriously? Mine only lasted 30,000 miles before it started slipping. You should consider yourself lucky it lasted that long.

Welcome to the world of modding cars. I know it may sound harsh, but if you can't afford to fix it, don't beat on it. I got my car in the middle of getting my engineering degree, and didn't mod it until after I had graduated and started my job.

If you just keep your mod level right where it is, a new LS7 clutch will last a long time, but make no mistake - it does not take kindly to hot lapping at the track, even in the C6 ZO6, which is a much lighter car than you will be putting it in.

A hooker would have cost you less than that clutch will cost ya.

I'm assuming that thread title is an attempt at humor. 150,000 is a great life for any clutch.

The LS7 clutch will serve you fine as long as your GF dosen't promise sex if you can beat another 1/10 out of your car agian. If you take it to the track allow at least 30-45min cool down between runs. It will hold th epower but won't take the abuse.

my clutch last 70k miles...for the last 15k of that it suffered from severe pedal crash lol. I have 27000 on a Ram powergrip HD, when this clutch goes i will be buying another. Nothing like holding you foot to the floor (on the gas) in between shifts a couple times a day

The 150k mile thing was a joke...i have no idea how it lasted this long. I will most likely be going with Ls7 clutch. I wasnt hot lapping i was giving about a 30 minute break between runs.

you definitely need a new flywheel or at least a resurface, but if you go LS7 you have to buy a new fly, your fly is prolly covered in hot spots from hard spinning like that

I daily drive and run 9's on my stock clutch

No but really when I get a new one it will be LS7 Clutch/LS2 Fly combo.
