I was working on my car and saw it was a little wet at the back of the tranny where the drive shaft goes into the back of the transmission. I was wondering if this is common or something that needs to be fixed right away?

weepy output shaft seal, its its really wet fix it, if its just a little bit it needs to be done soon, i'd check your fluid level and see how much has come out, cuz it could just be that its a little bit that leaks out in motion, or it could be a pretty steady leak that falls off the transmission in just the one spot so it looks slow.

check level, if low fix it. or fix it anyways. up to you. I think the output seal is only like $40

Usually a leak is caused by a worn bushing or yoke. The seal begins to leak because those surfaces have lost the proper support required to keep everything properly aligned to the seal surfaces.

There is no oil on the ground but it is wet around the area like it is weeping out. I have to pull the driveshaft is it worth putting on a safety loop on the driveshaft? Well not take it off I should say but disconnect?

I just thought about this, yesterday when I took the car out drifting was a little stuff till she warmed up a little. Correct me if I'm wrong trans fluid is low.

tranny fluid leaking out of the output shaft only leaks when the car is in motion unless the seal is right fucked. so you need to fix it since the fluid is low, that means its been doing it awhile.
