Default T56 problems

00 WS6 T56 problems! First off 1,2, and 3rd are real notchy feeling. It doesn't slide in real easy. 4th-6th seems pretty smooth. Also, im new to manuals, but i seem to get a lot of noise out of my m6. If im sitting still and the clutch completely in, i try and slide it into first and its just tough to get in. It takes some jiggiling and then it will go. If i keep the clutch in and shift from 1to second and repeat this several times back to back, it seems to loosen everything up and slides in fin. I can literally feel the tranny moving around when i do this at a stand still. Is this normal?

Sounds like your synchronizers are worn out on 1-3 gears. It might be possible your clutch is dragging a little, but the fact that 4-6 gears are real smooth leads me to think its the synchros.

How much are synchronizers? When i put mine in 3rd and let off of the clutch, it kicks it back out of gear, and 4th is hard to go in and get out of? Any help?

Sounds like synchros, I just brought my car from PA to AZ and as soon as I got into AZ I was sitting in traffic and I started getting a rattling/grinding noise trying to go into 1-2-3. I am also curious what they generally cost to replace.

Sounds like the clutch is not working properly and the transmission could probably use a freshen up along with deburring the sliders for smoother shifting .

Mine is kinda notchy. But I also have 96000 miles on it. only 20000 of which I put on it. Its proabbly the synchros. Doesnt bother me though. feels more hardcore i think. First gear will be difficult to go into sometimes. It will even tell you this in the Owners manul of the car. If it wont go in, let the clutch out and and then push down the pedal again and shift into 1st again. Its what I do. Kinda the price you pay for a tranny that is made to handle lots of power.
