Default Help me, trans problems?

My car just broke down in the middle of no where, awesome. I was driving and these two ******* ****** on motorcycles pass me on a double yellow in a small town. I will admit, I was going about 30 in a 35, but its a small town. So I dropped a gear to go up the hill. My car kinda just revs up to like 3k rpm and then all of the sudden I could not shift or anything. So I pull over, tried to put my car into gear, no luck. Turned it off, let it sit. Tried to put it into gear...no luck. I turned it off and it ran through the gears fine. Finally I put it in first too start the car and the car just lurches forward and stalls. So all in all, Im locked out of gears when the car is on and I can not start it with it in gear. Any ideas? This is a 6 speed car.

Clutch or hydraulics. Sounds like the trans is probably fine if it goes into gear with the car off. When you did the ram clutch did you replace the master and slave?

I did not replace it the person before me did, so I am not sure. Thanks for your reply! I was thinking it may have had something to do with the clutch or relating parts. Im not too familiar for trans and clutch tech, but could the clutch actually be destroyed or broken?

Sounds like a clutch or slave cylinder issue to me as well .

Start by checking your clutch master cylinder's fluid reservoir. See if it is low or empty.
If it is empty find out where it is leaking. Could be a slave or a master issue. But you definately have hydraulic issues.

Thanks, really didnt have much choice to get it towed to a shop. I was lucky it happened where it did because it was the last place with a shoulder for a few miles. Hopefully it wont be something expensive because I had to go back to school and cant get home to work on it.

im going with slave cylinder. had same problem in a 91 camaro. wouldnt let clutch engage so it lurches when u start it and it wont go in gear. its the slave thats what it is so just go buy one and put it in cause IT IS THE SLAVE CYLINDER. u may have broken lines going to it also
