There is no way that I know of to use a transmission cooler on a T56 . The unit would need to be equipted with a pump like the Ford ZF 6 speeds are to use a cooler . Other wise there is no way to pull the fluid out of the unit , cool it and push it back in the unit . If you are concerned about fluid temps , I would look into using the Royal Purple Syncromax fluid . I've used it several times in T56 units along with other larger truck type applications where heat build up was a factor .

It is quite common to add coolers to T56s. It requires a pump(usually electric) and an air -flow heat exchanger. The exchanger can be front mounted or simply in an air - flow stream. You draw the oil from the drain and returnit via the fill hole. BTW there are T56s that have internal pumps and circulate the oil through an exchanger inside the radiator like an auto.( Corvette)
