Default Stock clutch on a H/C swap

With just under 70K on the clock for my 99 WS-6 (M6), how long would my stock clutch last with a new set of heads and a <230 duration cam?

If it is STRONGLY recommended for me to upgrade, what am i looking at spending for a new clutch and are there any other supporting mods or is just the clutch? Thanks.

probably depends on how you drive it. Mine lasted 90k. I bought a spec, and toasted it in 4k. I just put in a mcleod street twiin. With only 4k on it, i just slaughtered me a 10 bolt. If you really rap on it, you'll toast the clutch eventually. Clutches range from about 350+. I just spent $1400 on a dual set up, after busting 2 in a few months, i dont want to keep buying clutches so i just bought the bigg daddy. That much power and a good clutch, the rearend wont be far behind! Good luck on your quest.

It will see probably 95% street. I'll get on it every now and then, but i don't plan to drive the crap out of it or anything.

If you don't get on it much, stock clutch should hold for a little bit... but mine gave up after 4 dyno runs, and I had to change the fluid since it was black. The clutch slips too much and creates too much heat, and it breaks the fluid down (dot 4 btw). I'd recommend at LEAST an LS7 clutch.

My LS6 (stock 2002) still working after 100 pass between 1.65-1.75 60', with ET STREET. I have a TSP H/C set-up, 486/415 to the wheel, 4800-5200 rpm launch with a SYNERGY 2-step..And I made over 100 pass last year cam only with M/T drag radial!

I checked out the specs on the Dick Harrell street car in my magazine and that car is even equipped with an LS6 Clutch. NOT LS7.

My opinion: LS6 > Spec 3

If it is all stock it really needs to be replaced. The stock hydraulic system up to 2000 was problematic.
Once you do it you should be set though. Falls under the do it right the first time category.
+++Good clutches cost $$ IMO though.
