Default What am I doing wrong, transmission won't go back in

Hey guys, doing an LS7 clutch swap on my '00 WS6. Everything went pretty well but now that I'm putting the transmission back in I've hit a wall. It slides in easy up to the last half-inch. It's not the dowel pins hitting so I can't figure out why it won't go in. Any clues? I used the alignment tool so if it slid into the clutch like butter then that shouldn't be the problem, right? I'd appreciate any help you can offer!

try to wiggle it up down left right while push as hard as you can

you are fighting with the pilot bearing!!!

hope you didn't damage bearing or installed bearing backward

I have wiggled, lowered, lifted and pushed like a ****. I was also afraid of damaging the pilot bearing but when I pulled the transmission back out the alignment tool went back into the pilot no problem. I guess it's just an angle thing but I would figure that at that depth I would already be in the pilot.

Its hitting on the pilot bearing . The cheap plastic line up shafts don't always work too well . I like to use a broken input shaft myself since its the same thing as whats going in it .

You can also get the bolts started and use them to draw it up to the block but do it by hand not with an impact . Also go in an X pattern working back and forth a few turns on each side . It should make a small pop sound and will probably slide right in after a few turns on each bolt . What ever you do , do force it in . If it gets too hard , back off .

i've had this problem several times. if you used a plastic alignment tool it probably didn't line up right. what happens is the weight of the pressure plate bends down the tool and allows the clutch disc to sag down just enough to misalign them. loosen the pressure plate with the tool in and you'll see you'll be able to wiggle the tool around. try your best to center it then re tighten the bolts, i used my ex gf's old compact mirror thing and a flash light to make sure i could see it was centered, hope that helps.

Id put the bolts in and hand tighten them slowly and in an X pattern.
