Default ok pissed off!!!!!

ok just got my t56 put in like two weeks ago, been goin easy on it letting the clutch get broke in. But still for some odd reason 5th gear grinds and now when ever i push the clutch in it makes a grinding howling noise that i dont know what the hell it is, im really pissed off at the shop that installed it and it was rediculous getting my car back in the first place and now i have to take it back up to them to fix what ever the **** is wrong with it now. what is that noise also??? it just started.

you know mine's been doing the same thing. I did the M6 swap from my A4 almost 2 years ago now and 5th grinds every now and then. Never troubleshot it or looked too much into it but I think the clutch doesn't release fully sometimes when it grinds. and the noise started happening recently but it's not every time, just when I hold the clutch in for more than maybe half a min? but I believe it's just the throwout bearing going bad. Did you get a new slave or reuse your old one? Mine was used with about 10,000 miles on it when I put it in. It's about time for a new clutch, hydraulics, and rebuild.

i guess they used an the old slave, the tranny only had 9000 miles on it and new clutch. Will it be ok to drive it up to the shop tomorrow??? i mean i dont want to mess it up nemore, and im really pissed off since i just got my car back on OCTOBER 16. I mean this is bullshit and they better get it fixed right or im getting my money back and going somewhere else.

Just miss 5th until you get to the shop. Go 4 to 6th and you should be okay.

Either make them pay for a tow and repair it ight this time, or get all of your money back and send the thing off to Amber and the guys at six speed inc.

Your throwout bearing is screwed up. That's the howling you're hearing when you push the clutch. 5th gear synchro's probably bad too.

If the noise is only when you push in the clutch then yes it is the throwout bearing. If the noise is always there then no it is not. I would call and ask them to pay for a tow if you are truely concerned with driving it and since none of us can hear the noise you have to make that decision. Good luck and hope it is something stupid you can get fixed in a day.

Definitely does seem like a pilot bearing but I'd be towing it back neway. I'd use a bushing in it's place. All of them little bearing pieces can really mess up an input shaft.

Sounds like you had someone work on it that didn't know what they were doing or over looked something when installing it . The 3/4 shift issues sound like something is fubarred in the syncro assembly . Maybe bad rings or even screwed up keys or both ...........
