Alright my buddy has a 2000 WS6 6 speed and it has a stage 2 cluch (at least thats wut we were told) and it has w whine in it when we are in 1st,2nd and 3rd gear but it goes away after that, it also whines when he is just sitting there in neutrel, when u push the clutch in it slowly whines down and goes away. wut is it? we have been told the pilot bearing and some have said it is the throw out bearing?

..throw out bearing sounds right since nothing is moving around in the tranny when the car is sitting down not moving.

sounds more like the bearing on the input shaft to me. if it were the throw out bearing, wouldn't it be more noisy when he pucshed in the clutch and not whine down?

Time for a bearing rebuild in your buddies trans! More specifically, the input shaft bearing, but you might as well as do all the bearings while you're in there.

It whines in 1-3 but what about 5-6 ? Gets quiet in just 4th gear ? If so , its been run low on oil and the input and cluster have been burned .

i just got mine rebuilt and it sounds like something is spinning in neutral when the clutch is out? is that what urs sounds like?
