Default 32t t56's

which t56's have the 32 tooth output? i know the ssr does. but i found a couple web sites that say the mm6 got it for 2006. which cars have this? does the 2006 gto have mm6 or m12? i've tried searching and didn't come up with much. i'm wanting to do a t56 truck swap so i would like to have the 32t for strength.

this site http://www.cadillacfaq.com/faq/answers/pdf/t56-06.pdf has some 2006 info but i'm not sure what cars got what. and is the corvette t56 the same as the gto? i think its saying the zo6 is the one that gets the 32 spline and the standard vette gets the 27 spline. it would be nice if the tr-6060 was eay to get like the t56.

I have not been into a SSR transmission yet . I do know the C6 units are suppose to have a larger mainshaft to help keep them from snapping like the C5's were bad about doing .

so the one's to look for to be safe with my setup would be the gto or ssr? both have a low first gear. i think both are rate like 400hp. the ssr is rated like 5300 pounds but not sure of the gto i think its only 4000lbs. i just want to be sure of what i get. i would hate to get the swap done just to have it break. they way it looks a fbody t56 would snap the first time i got on it.

No I wouldn't say that . I personally think the LS1 T56 ratio is stronger than the GTO ratio but feel like the GTO ratio would be better suited for you since it has a lower 1st gear ratio which will work better for a truck and in towing applications .

oh, ok. are you talking physical strength of the internals?

Correct . Typically when comparing the same transmission in size and design , the unit with the "softer" or closer ratio is usually stronger . The reason that transmissions come in different ratios is to suit the engine power band and the weight of the vehicle its going into .

Back in the day when GM's had 4 spds in them , the big blocks usually got the closer ratio units with softer first gears . This did a few things . It helped with the added torque the bigger engines made to get it to the ground and they were stronger over all to last better behind the larger , stronger engines .

In a truck application , the vehicle is usually heavier , designed to pull a load and have a lower , shorter power band so a lower gear ratio is better over all . Hopefully this makes sense to you .

oh gotcha. so thats why when they made the lower first gear for the ssr they also beefed it up and gave it fewer but wider teeth. other wise it would just shred it. kinda like putting really low gears in our trucks make the pinion weak because its smaller.........yeah.....i think thats right lol.

Well the wider the gear is , the more load it will take . Other things like the pitch of the tooth has a factor in the strenght as well .

You are correct about a smaller pinion gear being weaker compared to a larger one .

you think the ls7 clutch set up would work for me? it seems to be the best least costly way to go.

I think it would be fine as long as you don't go out and try to tear it up .

i drive pretty calm alot of the time. with gas prices now i have to. so will the z06 t56's or even normal c6 t56's bolt in like the f-body and gto ones or is the tail housing and stuff different. i've been searching but i can't seem to find this info. as it is right now the truck 5speed crossmember will bolt right to the fbody and gto t56's with no modification. that is if you have a newer truck like mine. i think 2002 and up or somthing like that.

Corvette T56 for Z06 or C5 are transaxle type transmissions, the front adapter plate, and tailhousing are very different, as well as the mainshaft, and would take lots of work to get to function correctly. If you are set on the SSR tranny or GTO it would be far less expensive to aquire one of those. I have found that is is hard to get the driveshaft yoke for the SSR without getting the whole driveshaft from GM. There is also the option of a f-body t56 with the 31 spline viper output shaft, these are easy to duplicate, and will withstand 700 plus wheel hp.

The Z06/C5/C6 will not bolt into your truck . You will need either an f body unit or one from a GTO .

thank you both. well i can scratch that off lol. the f-body 31 spline idea is good but i need that lower first gear of the gto/ssr to get my pig going. will the ls7 clutch work for the gto or ssr? that would be another thing to look at. at least the clutch pedal, master, and crossmember are easy to do.

You should be able to use the LS7 in front of either unit .
