Default Slave cylinder came apart???

Is this supposed to happen? I was in the middle of changing my clutch, and removing the tranny and I heard a pop. I discovered it was my slave cylinder. It somehow came apart into 2 pieces. Maybe a stupid question, but they're not suppsoed to do that are they? Do I need to get another slave now? TIA for any help.

Did someone push down on the clutch pedal with the line attatched? Mine came apart when the dealership was working on it once. They put it back together and bled it out, and it was fine. Make sure you bleed it really good, if you do reuse it.

If it's got some miles on it, probably best to replace and be safe, rather than sorry.

Are you sure that it wasnt just the throwout bearing that came apart from the actual slave....
