Default T56 rebuild advice please.

T56 on my 162k mile 98 camaro is going out, Hard to get into 2nd and 3rd mostly, downshifting is hard too, like the synchros are dead I guess. clutch is a centerforce, about a year old. If I bought the kit myself, How much should I expect for a shop to do it, including me driving the car to them so they would have to remove/install the tranny as well. I see kits on ebay for about 300 bucks, will they include what I need for a basic rebuild? Car is stock except for exhaust. It's just my daily driver.

-oh and sometimes when i put it into the next gear a little fast, I hear a weird almost grinding noise for a few seconds.

A shop for a typical rebuild of everything with parts will cost you $1,000+. If you can get the parts and do it yourself, you could probably save $700 or so.

We rebuild t56's and have package pricing for our builds. http://www.tick-performance.com/transmission/ However if you are supplying the parts, we charge $300 labor to rebuild the transmission and $200 labor to pull the transmission and re-install it.

Or level two rebuild is what I recommend to most customers. Its $900 plus $200 to R&R the tranny if you bring the car to us.

I would love to do it myself, but alas, I now live in an apartment and do not have the proper place to perform such a task, though I believe I could handle it. I need to be lazy on this one and pay to have it all done. I am going to have to limp the tranny until I get my other car running so I can use it to get around.
I'm sorry Jonathan@Tick, I don't think getting my car to North Carolina from California is going to be cost effective for me, however 300 labor and 200 for removal is not a bad price. That is about what I would expect to me with my supplied parts.
Six Speeds Inc., I see your rebuild kits are a bit pricey but I am sure I get what I pay for, What exactly do I need to get this thing built right for what I need? I am sure the car is going to stay mostly stock as I have another car that is my hotrod.

I would go with the carbon blocker rings $169, Bearings for sure $159, new 3-4 slider $115 and a steel 3/4 fork for $39. The rest of the items will be items that I suggest if you are going to take it to the track: Billet 3/4 Keys- $75, Bronze Fork Pads- $60 for 1-4 fork and a new 1-2 slider. Keep in mind I can taylor a package just for you and you can take advantage of the 25% off until the 31st. My packages that I have already made are designed for 700rwhp and 700rwtq.

Thanks,
Amber
