I have has my Short Stick in since January. Not a single issue. Never missed a gear. Trans vibration did go up a lil bit because of the rubber isolator being gone but thats about it. Both my dad and brother made it a point to tell me how much better the trans felt with the shorter stick.
I don't recall anyone ever having trans issues because of a shifter handle. lol. Maybe it was just a coincidence that they had tranny troubles.

Ive had the Lous ss since early may and ive had no problems with it. A lot easier to shift than the stocker. Made gears a lot easier to hit and and improved my shift time a lot.

grinding after a short stick install is trans related...not stick.....or driver
i've had the LSS on 2 different cars 96z and 99z....since summer of 2001.
i've had no problems.
you feel a bit more vibration, but that's the nature of the beast when elimiating the rubber vibration dampener.
