Default Sloppy Hurst Shifter ?

I have the factory Hurst. It seems to have some back and forward play(slop) in it. Are they all like this? Is there anyway to tighten it up?

The factory hurst stick has a rubber isolator in it and it's probably getting worn/sloppy. Get yourself a short stick to replace it, much more precise feeling and shorter throws.

I've already got a short stick so that isn't the issue.
