Default Who Has A Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch?? (12")

How do you like it? Any problem on high rpm shifting (sticking pedal @ 6700 rpm)?? How long have you had it? Any track passes? What flywheel do you have? I am trying to get more info on this clutch (12" not the 11").

I am debating between this clutch and the LS7 set-up, someone help me out. I have heard the weights on the DF will come loose after X amount of miles!!! I wont be over 500 rwhp

I have not personally had it but I've heard a few things. Youu could use a resurfaced stock flywheel, Fidanza Aluminum, Billet steel, it's really up to you. As for the clutch, it is a lot better than the 11'' from what I hear. I would get an adj. master with the drill mod with a new slave and you should have not problem shifting at high rpms. Just make sure you keep the master line away from your header/manifold- put the line behind the heat shield or you will have trouble shifting at high rpms from the fluid boiling. You should also use a DOT 4 fluid which is compatible with DOT3 and has a 500+*F boiling point like Valvoline Synthetic Brake fluid.

Is the adj master really needed? Have ppl had high rpm issues with the stocker??

You will have to shim if you don't have an adj. master, but I would get an adj master to get your pedal engagement just right.

I was looking at this clutch too at one point b/c I know someone who had good luck pulling 1.7 60's and 430rwhp on the 11'' version, obviously this can hold more power. However if you are not going to launch hard on sticky tires then I would get an LS7 for 400shipped and it comes with the flywheel, you can't beat that and it is very street friendly. The only negative is that the clutch/flywheel weigh 8lbs more than stock. If you plan on running sticky drag radials or slicks then I would get the centerforce.

People have only seem to have problems if they didn't do the drill mod with the stocker. The thing with the stock master is unless you shim it perfectly, the engagement point tends to be low off the floor and the clutch never fully disengages making it impossible to shift at high rpms b/c it will block you out of gear. Put an adj. master will make it a lot easier to get things just right and if decide to shim instead and it is not right then you need to drop the trans again to make adjustments whereas if you have an adj master, it's easy to adj.

I hope this helps, many people talk down on centerforce b/c a few people had issues with the weights but I don't think you will have any problems and for 370bucks it's still a great deal. I would go with a fidanza aluminum flywheel if you have the money, if not, resurface or get a new stocker. Hope this helps, if you have any other questions let me know. Thanks!

I plan to resurface my stocker or buy a new oem one. So I should shim AND do the adj master or can I shim and use the stock master? I plan to do the drill mod. Thanks for all the help

I have heard more bad than good about the LS7 but I want a clutch that will last at least 40k miles with getting on it every now and then shifing at 6700 rpms and maybe 2500 rpm launches at the track (I would only go to the track prob 2 times a yr and run 2-3 times), I have heard of centerforces crapping out after 10k miles, the LS7 has not been out long eneough for me to get any long term reviews out of it.

If you shim you can use the stock master but sometimes one shim is not enough.

With the way you launch and shift the LS7 sounds perfect for you, as the LS7 should last 20k-30k as long as you don't beat the snot out of it and don't launch above 3k with sticky tires like mt drag radials. But the final decision is yours as either clutch should work well for you.

pms recieved and sent!

The centerforce 12" DF is an awesome clutch! I have now over 20,000 miles on this clutch and it gets driven in stop and go traffic, long distances, and down the 1/4 mile on drag radials and street tires. Every one of my passes has been done slipping the clutch big time to save my 10 bolt. Make sure if you dont buy a flywheel together in a package with the clutch you get your stock flywheel turned AND BALANCED!!! I didnt do the drill mod and i didnt shim anything either. Oh yah i am almost at 400hp/380tq. Daily driven.

mine does the same thing but i think it is more due to the hydraulics than the clutch.

I have one, and couldn't be happier. No shim, no adj, master. I only have 3000 mi or so on it but no problems yet. I did give it an easy first 500 mi to break in. I've run the car hard through the gears several times since then though.

You don't really need to an adj master but it's nice to be able to adjust the pedal engagement to your liking. If you are looking to save money then just shim it.

Default df

I have 1 w/ about 15,000 hard miles and it still grabs just as good as the day i put it in . i replaced all hydraulics at the same time and did the drill mod . on the new stock master and no problems at all . make sure u replace the flywheel if the car has alot of miles i went w/ the steel centerforce since its mainly a street driven car . i found out the hard way your not supposed to turn down the stock flywheel (something about the tolerances on flywheel thickness) mine had a terrible vibration at about 2000 rpms . felt and looked like it was about to shake the mirrors off of the car. but its a great clutch . i would recomend it over the ls7 personally
