Default M6 Grinding?

First, I did a search & it came up with mostly nothing I can use.
Ok, well, I have a 98' SS, when I went out for a test drive, I got on it slammed second gear & it made an awful grinding noise, temp wasn't up though. Clutch is fine, fluid is fine. The other day I did it in front of my buddy's house, same thing, only it didn't want to go into gear until I brought the R's down a lil' bit. Motor was cold then. So I took it around the block (so to speak) and did it again at various spots along the way, the 2nd time I did it, it ground, but not as bad, third time temp was up & it didn't do it at all & 4th time it was fine too. Are they finicky like this or is it just me? My old Z never did anything like this. I have heard that the M6's sometimes just do this, is it true?

Could be a fluid issue when its too cold or you could have a syncro issue as well .

I say its a cold problem, just be easy on it until it's warmed up.

Ok, I didn't think it was a synchro issue because it only does it when it's cold. Never does it when it's warm. Thanks for the help & I'll take it easy till she's warm.
