Wiring question for T-56 plugs????Please HELP
I put a T-56 in my car out of a 02. My car is a 98. 2 of the plugs were burnt by the headers, due to moron that changed the car from a 6 speed to a automatic. He tucked them away on top of the collector.
Question#1 Are the plugs for a 02 different than the 98?
Question #2 Can I get plugs from dealer and just splice them in?
Question#3 If answer to #2 is yes. Does anyone have the part numbers to get?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
SBP

what plugs are you talking about? The ones from the engine harness? If so I put an 02 T56 in my 98 also and a bought a couple pigtails off of ebay to splice into my wiring harness. Everything works great but I don't have CAGS hooked up. I believe all you need is the reverse lights and reverse lockout. The VSS is the same as the A4 and just needs lengthened for the M6. Oh and your answer to #1) NO

I guess I need to get a break down of where the pigtails hook up. I was only able to hook one up. And not 100% sure if it is rite. I also don't know what the VSS, and CAGS are?
Which one on the transmission is the reverse lights and reverse lockout?
Is there a website that I can go to to see a break down of it?
The only one I don't want hooked up is the Skip shift one.
Thanks,
SBP

There's four total. VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor), CAGS (Computer Assisted Guided Shifting), Reverse Lights, Reverse Lockout.
Reverse lockout is the solenoid you can see on the outside of the tranny, right by where the shifter bolts up, you can see it sticking into that bowl under the shifter assy.
CAGS.. I forget which side it's on, but on the top of the tranny you'll see a metal plate with 4 bolts, the connector for it is right next to that.
VSS (I BELIEVE) is the farthest one towards the tailshaft on the Driver's side
Reverse lights I don't remember it's location but it's the last of those 4 lol.
and for a breakdown or pictures I'm sure there's tons all over this forum, go through the sticky there's a lot of pictures and help on there

Just wondering what Keisler was?
Also need to know which pigtail is what by wire color?
What is the plug on the passenger side of the transmission for? That is the one that is burnt.
Will the pigtails only plug in in one spot? If so I wouldn't need to know which is which.
Thanks,
Criss

reverse lights is interchangeable with the CAGS plug I believe. When I finished my install my backup lights were INOP and after a quick look I noticed my buddy plugged it into the CAGS slot lol.

well, heres a question, before this problem i hit reverse twice while on the highway, not fully in gear it would just grind if you started to hit reverse, now i override the lockout when i need reverse, and don't have to worry about hitting it on the road, so is it safe to continue to override the lockout, if so im a just leave it.

I don't know if it's safe. After continuous use it will probably wear out the shims and the cup the shifter handle slips into. Eventually it will feel a bit loose. If anything just wire in a switch somewhere, either so you have to manually hit it to go into reverse or wire it into your brake lights. The proper method is preferable though which isn't hard, you just need to find the correct pin on your PCM to wire it right. It will allow you to shift into reverse under 5mph

Allright here you go. The plug on the passenger side is the reverse lights. The pigtail from GM is about $15 and the part # is 12085485
The reverse lockout and CAGS is the same plug. GM part # is 12101857
My car still has the A4 harness in it. I just ran new wires for everything. For the reverse lock out to work you can tie into the blue wire under the dash on the brake switch(located next to an orange wire) and run a ground wire. Then you must press the brake to put it in reverse.
