Default T56 swap

Hey guys, looking to swap my auto to T56. Found a rebuilt T56 for 1400, is that a good price for just the tranny? Also found the rest of the stuff I would need to swap over (harness, computer, pedals, crossmember, etc.) for 700. Is that high? If so where could I find the complete kit? THanks, Todd

$2100 seems a little high, but it's not too far off what a swap typically goes for. It really depends on what all you're getting as far as a clutch, shifter and condition of the transmission itself.

yeah it does seem like most complete kits go for around $2000. I got mine for 1400 but had to piece together odds and ends including a computer so I ended up spending about 1700, but never did get a harness either. but like jmm mentioned it all depends on the condition of the parts. My tranny pops out of third and won't shift from 6th to 5th, the console is cut up for nitrous switches, etc. etc.

That sounds like a good price to me. Depends on things as stated above, but with computer and harness $2100 sounds like a deal.

A little wiring, and your computer can just be flashed to a 6 speed. A harness would be nice, but really the wiring is cake.

how do you do the wiring your self you should do a sticky on it. it would save some money for people doing the swap.

There's already a sticky at the top of this forum with every single piece of information needed to perform this swap.....wiring included.

My rebuilt T56 (with some upgraded parts) sold for $1350 with a few thousand miles on it. This included the bell housing. If I had it to do over, I would have upped the price because it sold in like 4 days and the kid had no problem coming down from NH to pick it up. A rebuild value all depends on the quality of the parts put into it and who did the work.

There are better deals to be had. I just bought a complete swap (tranny w/under 100k, console, bellhousing, pedals, slave, pigtails, crossmember, extra driveshaft, clutch and flywheel for $1k). But it helps that I know the guy. I will have to buy a new clutch and have the flywheel resurfaced, but still.
