Default lots of grinding

when the car is turned off it'll slide easy into all the gears. as soon as the engine starts up it'll fight me big time getting into any gear until it starts warming up. im talking having to use two hands to shove it into gear and it'll grind when trying to push it into gears every odd time. when i start driving i almost have to double clutch to make it get into gear easier.

however, when i get the car out for a while and everything is warmed up it'll shift smooth and easy into all gears and reverse.

what could it be? help!

First of all, DO NOT force the shifter into any gear. You will only cause more damage doing this.

Sounds like a hydraulic problem to me. Start with getting the system bled, see if there's any air in the lines. Check your master cup and make sure it's full of fluid. Go from there.

What year car? Kind of clutch? How many miles?

2000 Z28. Brand new clutch made by a company called fenco. probably about 3000 miles on it.

and i know that forcing it in gear causes more damage, which is why i havnt driven the car in a few weeks, but there were a few times when i had to drive it so it was unavoidable

so my battery died during winter, jumped the car and let it run idle for about half an hour. got in it to take it around the block and for some reason the tranny is like new again. slick smooth shifting in ALL gears.

does anyone have some sort of explaniation other than my camaro can repair itself?!

tranny is a rebuilt unit from GM with around 40-45k on it

thx for the reply. before the car died this winter it refused to go into any gear it would grind if i forced it into gear. as it warmed up it would get better, but never like wheni bought the car. then it died, i jumped it and let it idle for about 30 mins and it was like the tranny fixed itself. ive taken the car out several times since then and not a single problem with anything. slips into all gears and reverse like its supposed to!

sounds to me like you had air in the lines and while sitting the air went to the top and it i guess you would say it bled itself.

I have a similar problem with mine. It only does it going into reverse though. It grinds and jumps a little. Still a little tough to get into other gears, but not that bad. I'm taking it to the shop to get looked at tomorrow. Hopefully I don't need to replace the clutch. It was replaced not too long before I bought the car. And I doubt that I could've fucked it up enough to warrant replacement this quickly.
