Default Need Ideas clutch won't work

To make it short and to the point.

I was driving shifted into second, when I went to shift into 3rd I couldn't mash the clutch in at all. It felt rock hard, wouldn't go in even a 1/2 of an inch. I didn't try to force it or anything.

I was close to home thankfully and was able to make it home staying in 2nd.

My first thought is the master cylinder is damaged not allowing me to push in at all. I took a look around with a flash light, everything seems to be ok from the out side look. (nothing exploded)

Any Ideas?

Thanks

well I pulled the master cyl. out and it doesn't look right.

Is the shaft supposed to have a lot of play (wobble) in it. It doesn't feel quite right. A few inches of deflection in all directions.

Here are a few pictures

Also is this end missing anything?

If the master cly. shaft is supposed to have this much play, i think the hydraulic fitting to the slave cylinder may have caused the problem. It disconnected or was disconnected when I was removing the master cyl.

Any ideas would be of great help.

Thanks!

It sounds like the end was out of the slave like you said. That will dead head the pressure from the master & the pedal wont move then.

Sounds like the disconnect in the line was your issue. Nothing appears to be wrong EXTERNALLY with the master from those pictures (that's a RAM adjustable, correct?), but obviously we can't speak for internally. The line being disconnected would definitely cause that problem for you, though. Too bad you pulled it out. I would have just reconnected it to the slave when I noticed it wasn't connected and then tested the pedal out. It probably would have saved you a lot of trouble if that was the issue. Those masters are a pain in the *** to put back in.

Thanks for the replies

Yeah I didn't know the line was disconnected from the slave until I pulled it while trying to free the master the rest of the way... lol

I went ahead and ordered a new master... sense i have it out already lol.

Nother question... what would cause that clutch line to disconnect like that? Its never done it before in 2 years.

thanks again
