lt1 t56/ ls series block
What do I need to do to run a T56 from a 94 camaro with an LS series motor. The motor is the 6.0 iron block (lq4 i think??). Do I need a different input shaft? I assume an LS bellhousing, but other than that, any help would be appreciated.

doesnt require TOTAL disassembly, it needs a diff bellhousing, a diff input shaft, diff hydrollics and a diff front plate as said, but total dissassembly to change 2 parts? you take out the bolts on the front plate pull the input shaft and front plate off and put the ls1 input shaft through the ls1 front plate new rtv silicone n bolt it back up. done, with that part. worth it? no, doable? yes, better to gt an ls1 transmission? yes.

I should mention that i am swapping this 6.0 into an rx7 and everything will have to come apart anyway, i had purchased the t 56 to put into the camaro, but now the camaro is gone i have the trans just laying around. Plus the shipping to hawaii is outrageos, is this something a decently knowledgeable person could do, and where would i source individual parts like that, the bellhousing would not be hard, but i dont want to go through chevy for the input shaft and plate, thanks. Also, why new hydralics? even with my application in the rx7?

Yeah, i bought the t56 for the lt1 because i was going to use my 94 z28 as a donor, then i found the 6 L iron block for a decent price so i figured i would sell the car whole, not i have a t-56 that will be going up for sale. And when i bought it i was going to convert from auto so it has the pedals, slave cylinder, hydr lines and hurst short throw if anyone is interested, ill be putting it in the classifieds i guess.
Or maybe ill stick with the LT1, wow having limited funds really sucks, you gotta do so much planning before you buy anything

lt1 input shaft is different from the ls1 shaft length wise also the front cover is different along with the bellhousing to convert an lt1 to an ls1 you need A. ls1 input shaft B. ls1 bellhousing C. ls1 front plate and vise versa if converting a ls1 transmission to a lt1.
