Default RPS clutch

Well I have been having clutch problems for the last 500 miles with a brand new RPS single plate clutch and the 2900lb pressure plate. The factory hydrolics are not powerful enough to make the clutch fully disengage. We were wroking with Rob over at RPS with this issue and we had tried bleeding the system numerous times and pulling the tranny to replace the full hydrolic system and the clutch would still never fully disengage. Rob wanted me to put some miles on the clutch so I did and the clutch never loosened up. In fact the clutch burned up. The clutch wore itself out just from not fully disengaging.

The only way to fix the issue was to go with a twin disk so now we are running an RPS carbon carbon twin disk clutch and although we have not road tested it yet it seems to disengage fully with the factory hydrolics. Stay tuned for a road test today. The RPS twin is very pricey however it is fully rebuildable so it should be a good investment.

All I can say is Oh My God this clutch has the pedal feel of stock, but will grab like King Kong with 700 rwhp and a turbo. It is like a magical clutch and I believe it weighs 20 lbs less than the factory clutch since its made out of billet aluminum. It costs a lot, but only costs 400 dollars to rebuild. So you pay big bucks up front and thats a one time payment then its only 400 per rebuild from there on out. It is the FERRARI of clutches no other twin disk can come close. It works great with the factory hydrolics. I say if you got the money search no further and get the new RPS carbon carbon twin disk. Part of the high price is it comes with a billet aluminum flywheel with iron inserts that are replaceable so even the flywheel is rebuildable for the life of the car. No other twin disk or clutch for that matter comes with a billet aluminum with iron inserts rebuildable flywheel. That is what sold me. Plus RPS's customer service is bar none!!! Need I say more? Rob is the guy to talk to over at RPS. He is a great guy.

Yea you welcome bro. And another thing is the twin disk has twice the life expectancy of a single disk since it has twice the material to wear out. I say go for it. If you are serious about buying one I have a connection to get you one at a discount. PM me for more info.

Odd that the 2900 lb pressure plate didn't work with the stock hydraulics. Mine have been fine with their 2500 lb pressure plate...glad it worked out for you though.

Yea I know RPS didn't even know that it wouldn't work. I think the 2500 lb pressure plate is getting close to the factory hydrolics limits.

If I remember correctly, all cynrgy flywheels come standard with steel inserts. I know my old one did, but I also had that back in 05/06.

Here are the pics of my RPS Street Twin Carbon Organic.

The Carbon faces of the discks are in contact with Carbon on the floating plate.

By far the best clutch of the five assemblies I tested.

With my RPS Twin Street Organic/Carbon I received:

- A mounting procedure
- Two different Loctite (red and blue)
- ARP Flywheel Bolts
- A braking-in procedure
- A warranty
- 2 quality stickers
Plus it was shipped in time and delivered in time...

The cherry on the cake is I am finally not any more concerned by the clutch....

i'm having disengagement issues with my 2900# RPS clutch...only 5-6k miles on it and I'm PO'ed. I replaced the factory hydraulics with new ones, and it didn't help.

RPS pretty much said to suck it up and buy their new fancy twin disk.....NEVER buying from them again

The hydrolics can be perfectly new and they will never fully disengage their 2900 lb pressure plate. They should give you a full refund on the clutch and put that refund into a twin disk. They better start telling their customers that the 2900 lb pressure plate will not work with factory hydrolics period. They never told me and they seemed to use me as a test bunny to find out. Ask Rob for a refund like they gave me since mine was not disengaging.
