Default impact for dropping out the 6 speed

What ft lb torque air impact gun is needed for the bolts from the bell housing to the motor?
I know the impact should be an "earthquake".

Also, I just bought a transmission jack from harbor freight. Got the floor model so I got discounted big time.
It was missing the oil fill plug. Is this a big deal? Other than dust getting in over time?
Using it to drop the trans out next weekend. Its the 800 lb capacity jack.

I expect doing the whole clutch job, the drill mod on the braided line for the master cylinder and so on, will take 8-10 hours.

Hand tools with 3 ft extensions on the upper bolts are all you need to get the bolts out from the bellhousing to the engine and the transmission to bellhousing. They aren't on there that tight.

Oh, ok, I was under the impression that an earthquake was necessary.
I guess, worst case scenario is my regular impact.

thanks

A regular impact will work to take them off with 10ft of extensions (exaggeration). That's what I used to take mine off. It's just quicker if you have an impact.

I found at harbor freight the earthquake w/ 650lb rating for $80. Was going to buy but I just picked up my trans jack for $50 and don't have the extra money.

So a hand ratchet with normal assortment of air tools and some extensions with swivel sockets, sounds like that what it takes...and some patience and GOOD LUCK.

Im just hoping the master cylinder drill mod will go easy...Ill try and get a buddy to help who has done these.

Installuniversity is good for the drill mod, just looks like it could be a bit tedious or a PITA (especially the master cylinder).

Thanks for all the input.

The drill mod is actually quite easy. The instuctions on install university were easy to follow. Just make sure you flush the line really good. I think I used almost half of a small bottle of brake fluid to make sure I had all the shavings out. The last thing you want is one shaving to clog it up and you have to pull that tranny again. If you have any more questions, just keep asking. Lot of knowledge on these boards.

The hardest part about the drill mod.... the reinstall of the master back into the car!

Damn u-bolt. Out of pure luck I was able to make it a 1 person job, you'll see when you have to guide it back in blindly...

Messing with the master cylinder is ALOT easier when you take the brake booster out

Ive pulled 3 different trannys, probably a total of 8 times with just ratchets with a few extensions and swivels. All hand tools, and never really had any issues. One tip, is to unbolt the trans from the bellhousing when you remove it.. It will make your life ALOT easier.

No impact needed, air wratchet is nice but not essential. Like stated above lots of extensions fo the two top tranny bolts.

I did my clutch a little over 2 weeks ago.

Removing the tranny from the bellhousing first frees up a lot of room for you to work.

Air tools make the job pleasureable.
