Default 5-6 driven gear chipped

So we tore down my T56 for rebuild and while pulling off the 5-6 driven gear we chipped the edge of a tooth. Wanted to get some opinions on the severity of it. I would like to replace it but they are about $200 new. I am hoping to get a take off from someone for alot cheaper though.

I am guessing I could run it but it would prob make noise and maybe cause later failure. I dont think its worth the risk. Give me your opinions.....

It will be fine . Its very common for this to happen when using a puller on the gear . My puller has a very wide jaw on it so it covers more of the gear and reduces the chances of chipping a gear .

I thought I would get others opinions on it. Like yours

I decided to file the rough edges away and run it. Its just 5th gear so I will rarely use 5th and it wont see any hard use like if it was 1st or 2nd or something.

The main reason you can get away with it is because the face of the gear is pretty wide . It allows the force to be distributed over a greater area . If the gear was extremely narrow , I would not suggest using it .

This is what happened to me as well, when I tried pulling it off..
mine was severe I had to gring off all the teeth of the gear and use an air pressured hydraulic press to get it off... 15 - 20 tons of force to take that sucker off... we arent recommended to go past 10 tons of force.

the folloing year a classmate brought in his T-56, HONESTLY it just came off by hand..

Unbelieveable..

anyways I chipped a few teeth so I had to replace mine..

BTW I dont see how you chipped the top of the gear, unless Im forgetting how that gear goes on the mainshaft... Its been a year since Ive seen my T56 internals..

Some of them slide off because they have wear in the splines . If the wear get too excessive , the splines on both the gear and the main shaft strip out .
