Default New LS7/LS2 combo VIBRATION???

Ok so I have done some searches, but no one seems to have the major problem I encountered last night. I bought a new ls7 clutch and ls2 fw from spdc, threw it in last night and now my car drives like a paint shaker. I am deathly afraid of giving it any RPM so did I miss some balancing marks for the PP and FW or should I have had the whole assembly balanced .. taking it back out tonight .. need to know what I need to do with it to get it right .. thanks for the help.

If you're pulling it anyways, I would have it balanced. It's not a chattering you're talking about, correct? but a constant shaking?

nope, no noise and engaugement is good but anything over about 1200 RPM in any gear and I could mix margaretis on the dash I will need to find a machine shop that can do this work for me. But could it be that it was balanced and I missed it?

I noticed a little vibration when I installed mine. I took it to a local clutch shop and they said it was fine. How did you torque the flywheel and pressure plate bolts down?

How odd. I installed mine Friday and have been driving it problem free with no shaking. The write up on installuniversity said to tq the flywheel to 74, but didn't meantion progressivly doing it. I did it just to 74 and no issues here. Keep us posted with what you find out.

The clutches are not balanced as a unit. The pressure plate is 0 balanced and the flywheel is 0 balanced, but not always balanced when put together. Prolly the issue, as I just don't see the flywheel bending even if you way over exceeded the max torque on it. Good luck with it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, It's not really bending the flywheel but not allowing it to sit flat against the crank. It's worth a shot since you will have it all apart. Did you torque them down in star like pattern?

If the flywheel is off or wobbly, it'll vibrate in neutral. Just rev it with the clutch pedal in or in neutral..

If it only does it while its in gear, then its almost an guaranteed out of balance issue..

Does both not as bad in neutral because it doesnt have the rest of the drive train to shake my car with. But still noticable in neutral. But wont the PP and FW still be on the motor and thus still cause a vibration even if it is in neutral?

Yes and no.

It is severly increased/decreased when the clutch is engaged..

My bet is on out of balance. That is, provided you installed the flywheel in the proper manner by seating the flywheel correctly. Its very difficult to not seat a flywheel corectly since it doesnt need to be pushed on very far..

Can you pull the lower inspection cover on the bellhousing with the car in the air? As long as your brave, leave the motor running and watch the flywheel.

But I would say just pull the darned thing and have it zero balanced..

Does this Zero Balance apply to a 2000 LS1 in a Vette as well? I have a new CF Clutch and Steel Flywheel from different manufactures and was curious as to whether it need to be zero balaced or off balance identical to the stocker?
