Default Pilot bearing prob...

This is my 4th clutch change on this car and the first time with this problem. I put in the bearing removal tool like the other times, but this time the tool more or less pulled out the rollers and inner part of the bearing but the bearing did not budge. I searched and found some guys cut it out. How do you do that and are there any other methods??

thanks

I had to use a "blind hole puller" to get my stock one out. Took a while and a lot of hits but it got the job done. You can try taking a hacksaw blade and cut the bearing up for an idea.

Next time consider using a bushing instead of the bearing.

We slowly ground ours out with a dremel tool. Took forever.

Thanks guys... what was happening was the Snap-on (great tools) puller was grabbing the bearing not the entire housing. I finally tore out most of the bearing and chiseled out the rest then the puller could grab the bearing housing. Never had that problem the last 3 times. Dunno why it got so stuck.

thanks again

There is a bronze bushing you can use instead.

use toilet paper and a punch tool that fills the bearing completely a spline fropm a t56 is ideal but you cant just rip them out

Not a good idea as there is a plug right behind the pilot bearing that could fall into the oil pan.

Thats not bad for a car 7 years old. I only blew the Ram and thats what just the clutch itself. The Tex gave me almost 2 years and the First Spec a year 14k I think. I always get mixed up.
